Straight answers for teachers, admins, and families.
Does this replace the teacher?
No. NoteFest takes music literacy and busywork - reading, counting, listening, assigning homework, filling grades from play - so class can be how to play, how to play together, and how to connect as people. Software cannot do that.
Can one class have violin, viola, cello, and bass together?
Yes. Assign Year 1 once. Each student receives the book for the instrument they play. The class stays on the same schedule. Concert pieces in unison use D and A strings. G-string and final-string recitals are instrument-specific homework.
How does Google Classroom integration work?
Each lesson slot becomes one CourseWork item. When you release a lesson, it appears for students in Classroom. Grades and submissions are visible in NoteFest and sync back where supported.
What does Year 1 actually teach?
Literacy on all the strings, so students can read what they play and do not give up when the music has notes they have not learned yet. Note reading, rhythm, finger numbers, and four short recitals. Each student stays on their own instrument book.
How many recitals are there?
Four recitals, one after each string unit. Recital 1: Hot Cross Buns on D. Recital 2: piece on A. Recital 3: piece on G. Recital 4: piece on the instrument's final string (E or C). Each recital has a notes part and a fingers part.
When do students pick their instrument?
During onboarding or first use. The choice is locked after the first selection. Teachers correct mistakes on the class People page. Admins can see the instrument but do not change it.
Is the platform available in Spanish?
Yes. English and Spanish for the interface, lessons, and text-to-speech. A student who understands by listening can learn even if they cannot yet read English or Spanish. Teachers and admins can work in either language. More languages are coming.
What does student onboarding look like?
Students pick or confirm their instrument, choose a language, and see a short guided tour of My Journey and My Skills. School students skip the consumer upgrade pitch.
What is the difference between a demo login and a real school account?
Demo logins are sample data only. They reset nightly and cannot create real classes, bill, or see other organizations. Real school accounts use your Google Workspace domain, persist data, and support full roster sync and grading.
How do school accounts differ from consumer accounts?
School students and staff do not receive the consumer newsletter. We do not harvest school Workspace emails for marketing lists. Consumer accounts may see upgrade prompts. School seats are managed by your organization.
What can teachers see that admins cannot?
Teachers manage their own classes, correct student instrument choices, release lessons, and view detailed assignment grades. Admins see seats, time-on-task, and cross-class progress. Instrument choice is visible to admins as read-only.
